The Supplements

I have been taking the doTERRA supplements for approximately the past 7 months. I feel better and sleep better. I have been able to quit taking acid-reducing medicines (I often had to take double the amount in order to get relief) [They have tummy-tamer in them--so you don't get that yucky feeling you often get after taking vitamins!]. My fibromyalgia is better.

Another benefit has been that my nails and hair grow like crazy. I have never had fingernails--they have always been thin and peeled. They grow so fast and are getting stronger and stronger. It has been amazing.

The new and improved supplements are even better. I am anxious to see what they do for me.

If you would like to try the supplements, let me know and I will send you a weeks worth!

Update On My Journey With Essential Oils

I hardly know where to start sharing about the oils and supplements.

First, the supplements. Wow--what a difference they have made. I am sleeping better (this is huge with my fibromyalgia) and have more energy and generally just feel better.

On Friday, October 1st, I woke up with the left side of my face paralyzed. It was kind of strange, to say the least. But, I was in the midst of a move, so just tried to ignore it. On Saturday, friends helped me with unloading my moving truck (actually they did it for me--as they were concerned about the paralysis). They encouraged me to go to the urgent care clinic and see a doctor. My daughter was in town helping me with the move--so she took me. They wouldn't even see me and sent me to the emergency room--they were afraid I had a stroke.

At the emergency room I was diagnosised with Bell's Palsy. (The main nerve in the face becomes inflamed--causing paralysis.) They gave me a prescription for prednisone--and couldn't tell me if it would help or not. They told me it could take 2 weeks to 2 months for it to heal and that 30% of individuals who get it do not get over it.

I chose not to take the steriods. I started using my oils. I have been putting Frankincense and Lavender on my face at least twice a day. I have used Rosemary and Peppermint in front of and behind my left ear. I have used Wild Orange on my feet and in my water.

So, what happened? I am getting better. Last Thursday I noticed that my speech was getting clearer and my eye didn't seem to be drooping quite as bad. And, I continue to improve daily.

I believe that the oils and supplements are what are making the difference and helping my body to heal. It is amazing!

My regular "oil routine" has changed only slightly. I use Balance twice a day--in the morning as I get ready for the day and at night, right before I go to bed. I use the stress-reducing blend (Frankincense, Roman Chamomile, Bergamont) several times a day (I love the smell!). I am using On Guard on the bottom of my feet to help keep me well. Wild Orange in my water. Serenity at night to help me relax and sleep.

I never would have thought I'd be writing this, but . . . I love my oils and the difference they make in my life.

What an amazing journey it has been with my oils.

Special Oil for the Month: Roman Chamomile

Roman Chamomile is August's oil--so, it's 10% off!!

Roman Chamomile is actually from the daisy family (compositae). The oil is extracted through steam distillation from the flowers.

It's properties include: anti-infectious, anti-inflammatory, antiparasitic, antispasmodic, calming, and relaxing.

Historically it was used by the ancient Romans to give them a clear mind and to empower them with courage for their battles. (I don't know about you, but from time to time I could use a little courage for the battle!)

The body systems that are affected by Roman Chamomile are emotional balance, nervous system, and skin.

Take a deep breath, here are all the uses: Intestinal parasites, neuritis, neuralgia, shock. Chamomile neutralizes allergies and increases the ability of the skin to regenerate. It is a cleanser of the blood and also helps the liver to reject poisons and discharge them. This oil may help with, allergies, bruises, cuts, depression, insomnia, muscle tension, nerves (calming and promoting nerve health), restless legs, and skin conditions like: acne, boils, dermatitis, eczema, rashes, and sensitive skin. Chamomile is mild enough to use on infants and children. For centuries, mothers have used chamomile to calm crying children, ease earaches (do not pour into the ear, but just at the opening of the ear), fight fevers, soothe stomachaches and colic, and relieve toothaches and teething pain. It can safely and effectively reduce irritability and minimize nervousness in children, especially hyperactive children.

Because it is calming and relaxing, it can be used aromatically to combat depression, insomnia, and stress. It eliminates some of the emotional charge of anxiety, irritability, and nervousness. It may also be used to soothe and clear the mind creating an atmosphere of peace and patience.

Chamomile can be applied neat (with no dilution), or dilute 1:1 (1 drop essential oil to 1 drop carrier oil) for children and for those with sensitive skin when using topically. Apply to reflex points and/or directly on area of concern.

It has also been generally recognized as safe for human by the FDA. But should not be given orally to children under 6 years old and should be used with caution and in greater dilution for children 6 years old and over.

A friend passed along this "recipe" for anxiety reducing oil blend using the Chamomile: blend 20 drops Chamomile with 20 drops of Frankincense and 20 drops of Bergamot (then I finish filling my roller bottle with Fractionated Coconut Oil). You can carry it with you and rub along the spine on the back of the neck 3-4 times a day. I love it! It smells wonderful and helps to take the "edge" off with regular use. (When I notice it helps is when I forget to use it and notice how I feel when I don't use it.)

It is also part of my regimen with my fibromyalgia.

So, if you think you might want to give Roman Chamomile a try, there is no better time!

Bug Bites

Summer bug bites . . . not one of the fun parts of summer. But, they don't have to be a problem. I use Purify on them and they disappear really fast--and they don't itch. (If it is a spider bite--mix Purify and Melaleuca.) You can also use Lavender for the itching. (Lavender also works great for sunburn! Mix 10 drops Lavender with 4 oz. distilled water in a misting spray bottle, shake well and spray on location to aid with pain and healing.)

To keep from getting bites--use TerraShield. Apply to exposed skin and it will keep mosquitos away. (You can mix TerraShield with fractionated coconut oil for sensitive skin.) It is all natural and contains NO DEET!!

The Family Physician Kit

I recently had a friend ask me about the Family Physician Kit--and what I use the oils for. In the kit, there are ten 5 ml essential oils/oil blends and an audio CD by dōTERRA's Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Hill. In his presentation, Dr. Hill teaches listeners how to care for their family's everyday health needs with simple and safe methods using the oils in the kit.

So, here it goes--how I use the ten oils/oil blends.

Lavender--my very favorite oil. I have talked about it in some of my other posts. Lavender is my "go to" oil. My daughter will ask me what oil she should use for something and often it is Lavender--she laughs and says, "That is what you always say." But it is true. Lavender is an oil you can use for almost anything. There is a saying, "If in doubt, use Lavender." I have used it for headaches, after falling to remove swelling and lessen bruising, for burns (no, it doesn't hurt and it takes away the burn), to relax tight muscles in my neck and shoulders, to help me sleep, and on irritated places on my face. Everyone should really have a bottle of Lavender.

Lemon--I use Lemon in my water (just a couple of drops in a bottle of water and you have a refreshing drink plus it removes toxins from your body--and no it doesn't make your water taste oily). It is great to use aromatically as it lifts your mood (it also neutralizes odors). It's great to add to water to clean and disinfect kitchen counters.

Peppermint--There are many things that Peppermint is good for . . . indigestion or upset stomach (just rub on stomach or feet or take a drop internally), it opens sinuses when used aromatically (it also picks you up on a long drive), it's good in water, if you breathe it during a meal it helps you feel full.

Melaleuca--One of my favorite uses for Melaleuca is cold sores. It dries them right up. Even those on the inside of the mouth. (It is not one of my favorite tasting oils, but it gets rid of mouth sores quick enough that I am willing to put up with it.) "The leaves of the melaleuca tree have been used for centuries by the aborigines to heal cuts, wounds, and skin infections. With twelve times the antiseptic power of phenol, it has some strong immune building properties."

Oregano--nature's antibiotic. I have used Oregano with On Guard in capsules when I first feel a cold/sinus infection coming on. I mixed it with Melaleuca and gave to my dad for nail fungus. I understand that it is great for getting rid of warts.

Frankincense--I apply Frankincense to my brain stem area every day. Dr. Hill, and others I know, put a couple of drops under their tongue every day--I haven't gotten there yet--working toward it though. [smile] I had a "rough spot" on my temple that had been frozen off twice. They told me that if it came back we would need to biopsy it--it came back. I put Frankincense on it often and it went away and has not come back. There is new research that shows Frankincense kills the cancer cells in bladder cancer. It is being tested for other cancers. It has been found to help with brain function--memory and alertness--and it may help with Alzheimers.

Deep Blue--is an oil blend known for it's soothing properties. I have used Deep Blue on sore and tired muscles and joints. It's important to rub it in really good--and then I even use a little heat on it when I need it to go deep. Oils in Deep Blue: Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Blue Tansy, German Chamomile, Helichrysum, and Osmanthus.

Breathe--another oil blend. This blend helps you to breathe easier. I have used it when I was congested by rubbing a drop in my hands, covering my nose and mouth and breathing in deeply several times. I have rubbed it on my upper chest (and my feet) to help with congestion. I have known folks who have used it to help asthma symptoms. Oils in Breathe: Laurel Leaf, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, Melaleuca, Lemon and Ravensara. These oils help cleanse and soothe airways.

DigestZen--oil blend. Smells like licorce to me. I have used it both internally (putting a few drops in a capsule) and rubbing it either on my stomach area or on my feet. It has helped with acid reflux and upset stomach. Oils included in this blend are: Ginger, Peppermint, Tarragon, Fennel, Caraway, Coriander, and Anise.

On Guard--is a proprietary blend to support healthy immune function. I put a drop or two on my feet every morning to support general health. I know of mom's who rub it on their kid's feet every morning--and they haven't gotten sick all winter. I have mixed it with Oregano in a capsule and taken it to stop a cold/sinus infection. You can diffuse it in a room to remove pathogens--great if one person in the family is sick and you want to keep everyone else from catching it. You can mix it with water and use it for cleaning. There is a long list of things that On Guard is good for. I'll post it soon. Oils in On Guard are: Wild Orange, Clove, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus, and Rosemary.

The Family Physician Kit is referred to as "Nature's Medicine Cabinet." It really does have all the basics. And, it is a great way to try a variety of oils and see how they benefit you and your family. But, none of the oils will help you unless you remove the lid and really use them. It is a matter of retraining yourself to reach for a natural remedy--rather than "normal medicines" that we reach for.

The Family Physician Kit is where I started--I decided if I was going to see if essential oils really worked then I would give them a fair try. I haven't been sorry. There are those I use more than others (and have since ordered the 15 ml bottle)--but each one has brought a unique benefit to my body. I am constantly learning new ways to use them and stepping further and further away from artificial and synthetic "medicines."

If there is one more oil that I would add to the "kit" it would be Balance--the Grounding Blend. I'll talk about it post.

If you would like more information--just ask!! If you have questions--ask!!

GX Assist

I am just finishing up my 10 days of GX Assist. I feel so much better after I have taken it.

When it was first recommended to me, I was a little apprehensive about taking it. I had heard horror stories about other "natural" GI cleansing products. I was at one home party (for a product that I will not name) where the consultant went into way too much detail about her GI cleansing experience.

I thought, I do not want to take something where I will be tied to the bathroom (so to speak) for a week or more. Not a good time--at least not to me.

So, when dōTERRA's GX Assist was recommended--I didn't get real excited.

Let me explain what GX Assist is, first of all. It "is a proprietary combination of Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils and caprylic acid that helps support a healthy digestive tract by creating an unfriendly environment for potentially harmful pathogens that can disrupt digestive immunities and cause digestive upset. GX Assist is formulated with CPTG oregano, melalueca, lemon, lemongrass, peppermint, and thyme essential oils that have been demonstrated to have in-vitro antimicrobial properties. GX Assist also includes caprylic acid that has been traditionally used for its specific health-supporting properties in the gut." All that in an enteric-coated softgel so it desolves where it should--in the intestines--and not in the stomach.

This month was my third time to take it. (They recommend that you take it every month for 10 days to keep your digestive system running smooth.) I have had absolutely no side-effects and always feel better when I am done. . . . actually I start feeling better about five days into it.

One of the things that I love about GX Assist is that it gets rid of candida! Candida can cause so many problems in our system. (I have to admit here that I thought all the talk about the problems associated with candida was just hype--but as I take the GX Assist and feel better--I am becoming a believer.)

The other benefit about using the GI Cleansing Formula (along with PB Assist that I take after my 10 days of GX Assist) is it helps my supplements work better. They are able to be absorbed into my body better--so they can do their job better!

You have to try the GX Assist. It works amazingly!

What's the Difference??

I was in a Whole Foods Wholebody store yesterday with a friend. There was a whole area of "essential oils." They claimed to be 100% pure. So, my friend asked me what the difference was. . . .

It is a question that most people ask who have bought oils in a health food store. Is there really a difference??

dōTERRA is my first experience with essential oils--so, I can't speak from an experience with different brands. But, I know that many regular essential oil users who try dōTERRA say that there is a huge difference. To be honest, I don't want to give up my dōTERRA to try another brand . . .
not with what I know about dōTERRA oils.

dōTERRA oils aren't just therapeutic grade oils--they are the ONLY oils that are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. They take extreme measures to ensure that I am getting not only pure oils, but also potent ones. There are NO fillers. When they say 100% pure--that is what it really means--the entire bottle of oil is 100% pure what it says it is. AND, many of dōTERRA oils are so pure that they can be taken internally. Most brands say "Not to be taken internally" or "For external use only" on them. If a bottle of dōTERRA oil has "Supplement Facts" on it, that means that it has been approved by the FDA as safe to be used internally.

dōTERRA uses third party partners to cross test using mass spectrometry and gas chromatography on all the oils. It is important that we have unbiased--and trained--opinions. That is why they work with PhD chemists who have a background in essential oils--they want to make sure that they are providing the purest and most potent essential oils in the world.

So, based on my own experience . . . I can't really tell you the difference. But, I trust that there is a difference. I trust my dōTERRA and I am just not willing to take a chance with some other essential oil--not when I know that mine is 100% Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade. Are you willing to take the chance with your health?

Want to experience the difference?? I'd love to help!
